Resources and Tools for Writers

A writer is only as good as the tools she uses, especially online.

I’ve been writing for a some time and have learned quite a lot, the most important lesson being; I wouldn’t be able to do a fraction of what I do today without the right tools. This is why I’ve decided to compile a list of some of the tools I use, which I know will make you a more productive writer.

I’m an affiliate for some of the tools recommended so I get paid if you purchase them through me, but I use them nevertheless and I’m very happy to recommend them without reservation. New tools will be added to this list as soon as I discover them, so make sure to check back every once in a while.

Hosting

Most of the tips on this blog are geared towards writing online and a key part of my approach is having a website.  Here are hosting services I recommend.

Hostgator: Probably the best web hosting service online. I recently started using Hostgator and I love how they work. Support is super-responsive and they have a lot more features than you will need. They have my top recommendation! Using the coupon YOUNGPREPRO will also help you get $9.94 off on any package.

OutstandingSETUP: Another of my favorite hosting company, run by a friend. OutstandingSETUP helps you take control of your hosting. They don’t just leave you in the loop, but help you set up your website and ensure it is good to go.

Blogging

WordPress: The number one blogging platform, which I personally recommend and use. It’s also available online for free.

Google Analytics: Quality analytics service that helps you track visitors to your website.

Clicky Analytics: A simple and clean alternative to Google Analytics.

WordPress Templates

Templates make our websites beautiful and more interactive. Here are some of the top blog templates I recommend you use as a writer.

Genesis Framework: Currently the number one theme framework for WordPress, with a clean code and simple interface, it is currently the number one theme framework online.

Tribes Child Theme: The tribes child theme works with the Genesis framework to make your site even more beautiful. It is a simplistic approach to a design that focuses on conversion, so you should definitely check this out if you want to up your writing website.

Elegant Themes: Here’s the top resource online for the best free, and yes, Elegant, wordpress themes online. All for really affordable prices.

Blazersix.com: My very own designer that made this website possible. All of what you’re seeing right now is their work. Their service is mostly tailored towards people who’re ready to spend on a quality design but their work speaks for itself.

Irfan: Most of the graphic design you see on this blog were excellently designed by Irfan, and if you want cheap but quality graphics designed for you, I happily recommend that you check Irfan out!

Writing Courses/Guides

Renegade Writer e-books: If you don’t buy or read e-books, you should make an exception this time!

Linda Formichelli’s Renegade Writer e-books contain all the motivation you need to get started and continue as a writer, as well as practical tips to help you get the gigs.

There are currently 4 books available, and I recommend you get all 4 of them. This will be your best investment, even if those are the only 4 books you will ever read as a freelance writer.

I mean it!

The Freelance Writer’s Den: This is currently the number one online training program for freelance writers – from someone with writing experience too. It’s not for everybody and it costs $25 a month, but those who are members have raving feedback.

Physical Books I Recommend

The Elements of Style: This is like the bible of English and my top recommendation for anyone who wants to be familiar with the use of the English language.

The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin: Why are some people so poor and some so rich? This might not be related to writing, but if I were to take only one resource on this list it will be this. It only takes around 30 minutes to read this book but I can assure you will want to read it every day after purchasing it.

Physical Setup

Standing Table: In most cases I stand when I write and for good reason. There have been studies on the dangers of sitting for a long period of time and my standing desk helps balance sitting and standing when writing.

An additional Computer: I find myself distracted when working on my main computer connected to the internet, and an additional computer solves this problem. I don’t use the internet on my new computer so I use it whenever I want to write – to alleviate some of the usual distractions.

Software Applications

Writeroom and Darkroom: Distraction free software for Mac and Windows, respectively.

Scrivener: A newly discovered software that makes writing extremely easy. It doesn’t matter whether you’re writing a novel, a thesis paper or your nest blog post, this tool is for you.

Typingtest.com: I use this to gauge how fast I can type and improve in the process.

Eye Defender: This software application helps protect your eyes by displaying a screensaver at intervals to give you to  a break from working on your computer.

Flux: Another software application that helps regulate the brightness and color of your screen, based on the time of the day. This protects your eyes from being overworked by the computer screen.

Evernote: A digital notepad to help you keep track of the important details.

Mozy: Mozy helps you backup your files automatically. You can configure it to backup your writing folders every day so you won’t lose your writing if your computer is lost or stolen.

Freemind: Mind mapping software for writers. Plan your future ahead of you by using this software.

You can Earn Money Online

My best friend was really mad at me….
Sitting in my home office, deeply in debt, he begged me
To show him how I’m averaging $1500 a month online
-and I said “ Sorry dear, I can’t do it.”

"You need to walk before you can run", I told him. "I'll help you get started,
and when you're ready I'll show you how I make  those figures a year online."

Now, I'm making YOU the same offer.

My name is Sohel Parvez, and I'm one of those "Internet" guys ...

I work from home and pocket
more money in a month than most people make all year.

More importantly,
I'll PROVE IT to you right now so you know I'm not wasting your time.
And, no, I'm not doing this to try to make a name for myself as some Internet marketing "guru."

I don't have any eBooks or courses to sell you.

The truth is, the only reason I'm showing you this is because I know that if you don't trust me you probably won't take advantage of what I'm offering you -
and then we both lose.

So now that you know I really can help you make money online, let's get right down to business.

And don't worry, this isn't going to be one of those mind-numbing 25 page "salesletters" ...

What I am going to do is ...
  • Tell you in very clear terms exactly what I'm offering you, with no hype
  • Reveal the techniques I showed my friend that helps you start making money right away
  • ... and help you get started right now, even if it's 2AM in the midnight.

I'm a nice guy, but I'm no Mother Teresa. The truth is, I want to make even more money and I NEED your help to do it.

Don't worry, this isn't some lame pyramid scheme or referral system.

Here's the deal ...

I work from home, and I absolutely love the freedom to set my own hours, and do what I want when I want. Trust me when I say that life really doesn't get any better than this.

The problem is that I've grown my online business about as big as I can by myself, and I swore that I would never open an office or hire a bunch of employees no matter what.

I can no longer "scale" my business, which means I can't really grow my income any more.

Sure I could just keep doing what I'm doing, but I'd be bored to death. I have a lot of free time, and I love the challenge and the "game" of figuring out ways to make more and more money online.

So, I came up with a new game plan to take my online business to the next level. And in a nutshell, I'm now offering to help people like you because I'll make even more money in return.

It really is as simple as that. And the cool thing for both of us is that ...

... the additional money I'll make WILL NOT be coming out of YOUR pocket.

On top of that, the more money YOU make the more money I'll make - so I have a vested interest in helping you as much as I can and making sure that you're super successful.

Here's what I'm proposing.  No ridiculous claims and no B.S.

You have to learn how to walk before you can run.

Anyone who makes wild claims about making large amounts of money online in a short period of time is flat out lying to you. Period. End of story.

What I'm offering is a realistic plan that can help you make extra income right now.

What I'm hoping is that once you get a little taste of making money online you'll want to take things to the next level, and maybe even work from home full-time.

Here's how it's going to work ...

Step 1

Reserve your spot to secure your BowLancer membership. Just enter your name, primary email address, and send it to +8801849867576 or mail at: bowlancer.sat@gmail.com

Step 2
I'll reveal the website I showed my friend. Out of the hundreds of "work at home" opportunities I've seen, I hand-picked this one as being the best for the average person to start making money fast.

Step 3
Review the material and simply follow the step-by-step system to start making money.  My team and I will be here to help you every step of the way.

Success is your only option with my Coaching & Support

If you need extra help on the way, my team will be here for you. Just to make sure you get off on the right foot, I'm also going to give you a special email address for unlimited personal coaching and support.

Any time you need help with anything just ask - either myself or one of my personally trained support team members will reply to your inquiry within 24 hours or less, guaranteed.

And we won't reply with a pre-written "canned" email either. Don't those drive you crazy?!

Every reply you get from us will be a personalized response to your individual question and your individual situation, tailored to your own strengths and weaknesses and your goals.

But don't worry, making money online is easy when you know how ...
  • You DON'T need to be an Internet expert or "computer geek"
  • You DON'T need to have any prior marketing or business experience
  • You DON'T need a lot of free time - even a few hours a week is enough to start
  • You DON'T need to mess with the hassles of a "real" business - this is EASY
This is serious business and I'm looking for people who want to make lots of money online.

If you end up working with me - and I really hope that you do - I'll show you exactly how I and lots of others are making money online, working from home.

More importantly, I'll share with you the tools I use and show you how you can do it too.

But like I said, if we don't get that far that's fine too. The cool thing is that ...

The worst-case scenario is that you'll discover how people are making an extra income online in their spare time.

It's your choice
and
either way you win.

45+ More Websites that Pay You to Contribute an Article, Instantly 100% Trusted

I compiled and published a list of websites that pay people to contribute articles. Demand for this list was extremely high and the post eventually became really popular to the extent that it has now been viewed over 70,000 times.

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback since writing that post – as well as requests for more categories. Most of the blogs featured in the last edition were in the design category, so I have decided to compile a new list containing 45+ entirely new websites and magazines that will pay you to write for them.

Payment ranges from $40 – $1,000+ and I also indicate whether payment details were confirmed on the website. Most of the sites featured will pay you upon publication or acceptance of your article. There are websites in new categories including health, tech, freelance writing, blogging, pet, travel, business, finance, music etc.

I’ve also compiled a spreadsheet and a PDF version of all the sites included on this list. This is to make it easy for you to have access to the list at any time you want and on any computer without having to visit this page again. There’s a little commitment you have to make to get it though, but you don’t have to worry as it’s something anyone reading this list can do. I explain more about how you can get the files at the end of this article. Enjoy!
